Oakland A’s: Scott Sizemore Tears ACL Again, Out for Season

Oakland A’s infielder Scott Sizemore has torn his ACL and will miss the remainder of the season, the team announced.

Sizemore was injured in the game against the Angels on Tuesday while chasing a pop fly. He left the game with a sprained left knee, but obviously the injury was more serious than previously thought.

“Just awful…It’s devastating,” said A’s manager Bob Melvin. “We’re thinking about him.”

This is the second time he has torn his ACL, which makes it even more devastating. Sizemore missed the entire 2012 season due to the injury occurring in Spring Training.

The infielder was expected to battle for a starting spot at second base. He has one hit on four at-bats this season.
