UPDATE: The terms of the deal – the Sharks will acquire a second round pick, a third round pick, and another conditional second round pick that could become a fifth (per Kevin Kurz / Pierre LeBrun)
UPDATE: Clowe has waived his no-trade clause to go to the Rangers, LeBrun reports. The Sharks can complete the deal now.
Because Clowe has a no-trade clause in his contract, the deal will become official once he agrees to it.
Clowe sat out Monday night’s game against the Canucks because the Sharks wanted to protect their asset from injury.
Perhaps a change of scenery could be better for Clowe, who has not scored in 28 games this season. He has 11 assists, 79 penalty minutes, and a -4 plus-minus rating.
He was also suspended two games last month for coming off the bench to engage in an altercation with the Blackhawks’ Andrew Shaw.
Clowe has been a consistent force in the lineup since the 2008-2009 season (he averages over 20 goals per season), but has not found a way to get it together this year.
