A's Look to Even Up Opening Series vs. Mariners: Game Preview

The Oakland Athletics will try to get their first win of the season when they take on the Seattle Mariners at 7:05 PST at O.co Coliseum in the second meeting of a four-game series.

Jarrod Parker returns to the mound tonight for the A’s, his last start coming in Game 5 of the Divisional Series of last year’s playoffs against the Detroit Tigers.  Parker will look to build on a rookie campaign that saw him go 13-8 and finish fifth in Rookie of the Year voting for the American League.

For the Mariners, Hisashi Iwakuma will take the mound. Iwakuma went 9-5 record with a 3.16 ERA last season, coming over from Japan. The only member of the A’s who has had previous success in limited at-bata against Iwakuma would be Yoenis Cespedes, who is 2-4 with a home run against him.

Oakland set a dubious record last night, tying the major-leauge record with most consecutive losses in season openers, as they were shutout by Felix Hernandez and the Mariners.

Tonight, they will try to right the ship and get on track in the win column.
