The San Francisco 49ers have made a move for Cleveland Browns quarterback Colt McCoy according to multiple sources. According to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee, in the deal San Francisco also gets the Brown’s 6th round pick for 2013 draft while they send a both 5th and 7th round picks to Cleveland. McCoy is expected to compete for the job with Tolzien.
As a member of the Browns last season McCoy was relegated to backup duties while 2012 1st round draft pick Brandon Weeden was given the keys to the team. He only played in three games and completed nine of 17 pass attempts.
He was drafted out of Texas in the third round of the 2010 draft but unfortunately for him nothing had come of it. He was given two years as a starter before Weeden was drafted, thus ending the McCoy era in Cleveland.
In his career as a Brown McCoy has a total of 21 starts for 4,388 passing yards and a 58.3 passing percentage. He also threw 21 touchdowns compared to 20 interceptions in his three season with Cleveland.
