On Friday, conflicting reports emerged regarding a potential trade between the Cardinals and Raiders that would send Carson Palmer to Arizona.
Now, according to AZ Central’s Kent Somers, the Cardinals are interested in trading for Palmer, but only for the right price. They would only be willing to give up late-round draft picks, possibly conditional on how, or if, Palmer plays.
The Cardinals would also like to restructure Palmer’s contract, and if he refuses, the trade would be off. Palmer has already denied taking a pay cut with the Raiders, which is what spurred the trade talks with Seattle regarding Matt Flynn and could lead to Palmer’s departure from Oakland.
If the Raiders trade for Flynn, GM Reggie McKenzie will likely look to trade Palmer, and the Cardinals should be the first team calling. Whether or not he winds up in Arizona is the big question.
