The San Jose Earthquakes couldn’t muster a late comeback this time, falling to the Houston Dynamo 2-0 on the road.
Goals were scored by Will Bruin in the 17th and 42nd minutes by Will Bruin and Giles Barnes, respectively.
Houston outshot San Jose 13-10, and had a 7-1 edge in shots on target.
Striker Chris Wondolowski was limited to two shots on goal, and one attempt that clanged off the crossbar.
Even the return of Alan Gordon — who played in his first game since the playoffs last year — couldn’t help the Quakes tonight. They are still missing Steven Lenhart, who provides much-needed energy off the bench.
With the win, the Dynamo have tied an MLS record with a 34-game unbeaten streak at home. Ironically, this Dynamo team used to be the Quakes team that relocated from San Jose to Houston in 2005.
