The Raiders have officially released defensive lineman Tommy Kelly, announcing it on Twitter.
“The club appreciates his service, dedication and toughness,” the team said.
Kelly signed a seven-year, $50 million deal in 2008, and would make $6.5 million next season. Releasing him saves the Raiders $4.775 million, according to Rotoworld’s Nick Mensio.
Kelly has spent all nine seasons of his career in Oakland. He was a Pro Bowl alternate in 2010 when he recorded seven sacks and 60 combined tackles.
However, his production dropped big time in 2012 when he only had 1.5 sacks and 46 combined tackles.
