49ers linebacker Aldon Smith is expected to be ready for training camp, head coach Jim Harbaugh told CSNBayArea.
Smith underwent surgery for a torn labrum a few weeks ago, according to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
He did not miss any games in 2012, but was listed on the injury report from weeks 12-17 with a shoulder injury. He really struggled down the stretch, registering no sacks in the last six games when he had 19.5 sacks during the first ten games.
Smith told the Bay Area News Group on Feb. 15 that the injury was only a “bad stinger,” and even participated in MMA training with two-time Olympic wrestler Daniel Cormier in San Jose that day.
“It’s doing good,” Smith said at the time. “I was on the mat, playing around and doing fine.”
