Chances are that free agent safety Ed Reed will wind up either in Houston or Baltimore…and not in San Francisco.
The Baltimore Sun reports that the Texans and Ravens are in a “tug of war” for Reed, with the Texans negotiating with Reed and the Ravens trying to lure him back.
The Texans offered Reed a three-year deal when he visited them last week, but the veteran wanted more, allowing the Ravens to jump back into the frame. There have been “ongoing” talks between Reed and Houston.
Anyways, it appears at this point that the 49ers are out of the race for Reed, with no recent reports linking him to San Francisco.
Reed has accomplished in 11 years what few others have done. His accolades include nine Pro Bowl selections, eight All-Pro seasons, Super Bowl champion, two time Defense Back of the Year, and Defensive Player of the Year in 2004.
He holds the NFL record for most career interception return yards (1,541), and is tied for most postseason interceptions.
