The Bay Area will have two representatives in the NCAA Tournament, as the St. Mary’s Gaels and Cal Bears earned trips to the big dance.
St. Mary’s unfortunately has a tougher journey, as they were chosen as one of the “first four” teams. They will face off against Middle Tennessee in Dayton, Ohio on Tuesday for the right to move on to the field of 64.
Cal likely caught a break, as they were chosen as a No. 12 seed, but gets to play in San Jose on Thursday against UNLV. This will essentially be a “home game” for the Bears.
No. 11-seeded St. Mary’s is playing in the Midwest bracket, while 12th-seeded Cal is playing in the East bracket (don’t ask me why).
