The Sacramento Kings prepare to take on their Los Angeles rivals, the Lakers. The Rivalry hasnt been as exciting in the last years with the Kings having not made the playoffs since 2006-07. The Kings have looked like a different team since trading rookie Thomas Robinson.
The Kings have managed to find a way to play competitive games against the Lakers, often showing how good they could be if they could bring the same energy every night.
With Kobe dealing with an ankle injury, his status is unclear for tonight’s game. The Lakers should be capable of beating the Kings without Kobe, but the competitive drive in Kobe will more than likely push him to be on the floor tonight.
The Kings need to remain focused on passing the ball and playing as a team against this battered an bruised Lakers team. The Lakers are an aging team that is most vulnerable on the defensive end of the floor. DeMarcus Cousins will need to find his open teammates and help create easier shots for them.
Dwight Howard has finally started to look like he is starting to find his playing form, and his resurgence creates a major matchup issue for almost every team in the League. DeMarcus Cousins however, is perhaps one of the only centers that could truly slow Howard down. Cousins will need to look for his jump shot as well as driving to the basket, but when Cousins is making his outside shot, he helps his team create very good spacing.
Cousins ability to pass the ball forces opposing teams to focus in on him, forcing defenses to collapse on him. If Cousins can anticipate the Lakers double and triple teams, the Kings could run away from the Lakers tonight.
