While the injury to Brett Pill and the unexpected great play of Francisco Peguero and Brock Bond have made predicting the Giants bench a little trickier; perhaps no team enters the season with a more set starting nine.

The World Champs bring back every major player who helped them capture their second World Series in two years, except Melky Cabrera. Artificial Melk’s spot on the roster is now occupied by former fan favorite and career journeyman Andres Torres. Torres figures to play in a strict platoon with incumbent Gregor Blanco, a situation that plays to both players’ strengths. Down the road Giants GM Brian Sabean will probably make a couple of tweaks to his roster but don’t expect anything major like Giancarlo Stanton or Jacoby Ellsbury because San Francisco doesn’t have the trade capital to pull off such a move.
