And then, there was….Charles Woodson?
Woodson becomes the most likely new addition to the 49ers via free agency after Louis Delmas returned to the Detroit Lions on a two-year deal.
Delmas visited with the 49ers for a lengthy period of time on Thursday, but the two sides were not able to come together on an agreement.
Walter Football lists Delmas as the top free agent safety available. He is undoubtedly talented, but the main issue with him is health.
Delmas recorded 28 tackles and one interception in eight games last season and has spent his entire four year career with the Lions.
He was named to the All-Rookie team in 2009 and was a Pro Bowl Alternate in 2010 and 2011.
Now, the 49ers should make a move on Woodson, who also met with the 49ers on Thursday. However, one dark horse to keep in mind is Ed Reed, who left the Texans facility without a deal and has received interest from the 49ers.
