Free agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha visited the 49ers today, but according to CSN’s Matt Maiocco, there is “nothing imminent” between the two sides.
On Wednesday, it was reported that Asomugha and the 49ers had “mutual interest” in each other.
Bay Area fans may remember Asomugha for his time with the Raiders, when he was regarded by many as the best cornerback in all of football.
Drafted in the first round in 2003 by Al Davis, his accolades in Oakland include a three-time Pro Bowl selection, and four-time All Pro team membership. He was also the Raiders team MVP in 2006 and 2008.
However, in 2011, he departed from Oakland for Philadelphia, signing a five-year, $60 million contract. Asomugha struggled with the Eagles, and was released earlier this week.
Asomugha recorded 47 tackles and one interception in 16 games with the Eagles last season.
