NFL Free Agency: 49ers Could Sign Ed Reed

At some point, you have to just shake your head at marvel at what the 49ers are accomplishing.

Earlier today, the 49ers acquired wide receiver Anquan Boldin from the Baltimore Ravens for a sixth round draft pick, or pretty much next to nothing.

Now, ProFootballTalk is reporting that Ed Reed, another Raven and arguably the best safety to ever play in the NFL, has hired an agent and could be signing with the 49ers.

The agent, David Dunn of Athletes First, has represented Jim Harbaugh and Trent Baalke.

The fact that the 49ers are looking at Reed means that Dashon Goldson may be out of the picture. Goldson is looking for an $8 million per year contract, and perhaps Reed would be willing to sign for a bit less.
