Report: 49ers Could Be Landing Spot for Tim Tebow

As it was rumored last month, the 49ers could be a potential landing spot for Tim Tebow.

The New York Jets are actively trying to trade Tebow, according to ESPN, and an opposing personnel director thinks the 49ers would be a good fit.

The report states:

The personnel director speculated the 49ers could be a landing spot. They run the read-option offense with Colin Kaepernick and, once the Alex Smith-to-Kansas City trade becomes official March 12, the Niners will need a backup quarterback.

Tebow was the Jets backup last season, and saw limited action in 12 games. Of course, he leapt into the spotlight the year before when he led the Broncos to the playoffs.

The 49ers are also reported to be interested in cornerback Darrelle Revis, so there could be a chance of a trade involving both Tebow and Revis that would essentially blow up Twitter.

There is no way SF would be interested in Tebow. Although Harbaugh and Roman both like the fact that Kap can run, what they look for in a QB is accuracy and arm strength, two things that Tebow does not have.

Niners have alwasy valued passing accuracy. This is just more hyperbol journalism. Apparently no one wants a QB who cant throw worth a damn. He’s better off trying to be RB.

This sounds like “American Pickers” bundling. When you bunch 2 together for 1 bundled amount.Revis and Tebow in exchange for draft picks and a 1947 Harley Davidson to the Niners! I’m sure Mike and Frank would approve!

That’s a funny but truthful comparision. The one thing everyone ignores when they talk about trades is that the team that gets the player also takes on the baggage of his contract.

What’s up with all these NYJ’s / 49er trade rumors ? First Revis, now Tebow. What would I trade for Tebow, maybe a 7th round pick, and a trade would also mean that the 49ers would take on his contract, whatever that amount is?. If Tebow were to come to SF he would have to realize what people have been trying to get through his thick skull since the day he entered the draft, and that is that he is not QB material, Tebow is a FB/TE/Special teams, who could throw the ball occasionally on trick plays, he is big enough 6’3″/ 235 so that he could be a good short yardage RB. The one thing he does bring to a team is that he is hard working, competitive, and an easy going teammate. Do I honestly think he will be a 49er? No.

I am a 38 year old engineer. I have a better chance to be signed by the 49ers as a QB than Tim Tebow.

      Sadly, you probably do.

Renowned for inconsistency as Tebow may be if there is one coach that can turn him around without a doubt that man is Jim Harbaugh. It would be his ultimate challenge. If the Niners get a discount if Revis and Tebow are a package deal Harbaugh will gain a great corner and transform Tebow like he did with Alex Smith and Colin Kaepernick.
