As the old adage goes, “If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em!”
That’s exactly what Falcons free agent defensive end John Abraham is pondering. After losing to the 49ers in the NFC Championship game, Abraham is scheduled to meet with San Francisco on Friday.
Even at age 34, Abraham is considered one of the best defensive players in the game. He recorded 10 sacks and 32 tackles in 16 games last season, and holds the record for most sacks in Falcons franchise history.
Drafted by the Jets in the first round in 2000, Abraham is a four-time Pro Bowler and three-time All Pro, most recently in 2010.
He signed a 3-year, $16.72 million contract in the summer of 2012 with Atlanta, but was just released this offseason by the Falcons.
