Despite tweeting that he would like to sign a long-term contract with the 49ers, Dashon Goldson is likely to take his services elsewhere.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports to not expect Goldson to return to San Francisco, and that he will be “gone.”
The 49ers did not use their franchise tag on safety Dashon Goldson (or anyone else), meaning that Goldson is now an unrestricted free agent.
Goldson definitely does deserve a multi-year contract, considering he was selected to the Pro Bowl for the second straight season and was named to the All-Pro team.
He made it clear that he wants to return to the 49ers, but ominously added, “I’m open to all 32 teams.”
Head coach Jim Harbaugh thinks Goldson deserves a long-term deal as well.
“He’s somebody I think you reward,” he said.
