Darrelle Revis trade rumors have been floating around for a good few weeks now, and the San Francisco 49ers have been a team with reported interest in the Pro Bowl cornerback.
Here’s a good question: How would Revis feel about a trade to the 49ers?
Apparently, he wouldn’t despise the idea (via NBC Pro Football Talk)
“I would just be an addition to help them win that trophy,” Revis said. “Would it be awesome? Yeah. My main goal as a I player and I think of all of us as players in the NFL is to hold that Lombardi Trophy up in the air and to wear that ring.”
The specifics are far from clear. It should be mentioned that the 49ers have a surplus of draft picks that they can flip in exchange for a proven veteran, such as Revis. The Jets would have to approve, of course, but the framework wouldn’t be hard to outline.
Revis would be a solid addition to a 49ers secondary that collapsed in the postseason. The torn ACL injury that he’s fresh off of may raise some red flags, but when healthy, he’s one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. It could be worth the gamble for San Francisco.
