The Raiders have restructured the contract of right guard Mike Brisiel, dropping his 2013 salary from $4.35 million to $1.35 million.
The Bay Area News Group reports that the Raiders are now $1.5 million under the salary cap because of this deal.
Brisiel signed with the Raiders as a free agent before the start of last season, as he was seen as a contributor to the zone-blocking scheme that was employed by Greg Knapp, the offensive coordinator. That didn’t work out as planned, as Knapp was fired after just one year.
The 29-year old Texas native was picked up as an undrafted free agent in 2006 by the Texans. His playing time gradually increased by year, and in 2011, he became a regular starter and appeared in his first playoff game.
