NFL Draft 2013: 49ers Plan on Trading Up in the Draft

After the Alex Smith trade is finalized, the 49ers will have 15 picks in the upcoming NFL draft, giving them plenty of flexibility and options.

CSN’s Matt Maiocco reports that the 49ers will not use all of those picks, and will try to move up in the draft by packaging some picks.

Maiocco also expects for them to trade away a few picks for next year’s draft, and that moving up from the No. 31 overall pick is an option.

The 49ers need help in a variety of areas, including backup quarterback, defensive line, cornerback, and placekicker.
