The San Francisco 49ers are actively pursuing a trade for Jets corneraback Darrelle Revis, sources tell Yahoo! Sports.
The 49ers are among a handful of teams that have discussed making a run at Revis this offseason, and are willing to trade for him even if it is for just one season.
San Francisco has 15 picks in his upcoming draft thanks to the Alex Smith trade, and could use them to their advantage in pulling off a trade.
Revis has been the subject of trade rumors this offseason, and last month, it was reported that the 49ers were “highly interested” in acquiring him.
He regarded by many as the top cornerback in the league, but missed all but two games of the 2012 season with a torn ACL and subsequent knee surgery.
The Jets will likely ask for at least a first round pick in exchange for Revis.
Last week at the combine, the 49ers were checking in with agents on the cornerback market, thus confirming that they are indeed looking to upgrade their secondary.
If you put two and two together, this likely means that the 49ers could and should make a run for Revis.
