Joe Maloof Says Report Isn’t True: “Hansen Made the Payment”

Well, that was fun for about 15 minutes.

Earlier on Wednesday, it was reported that the Chris Hansen-led Seattle group who bought the Kings owed a non-refundable $30 million to the Maloofs by Feb. 1, but they never delivered it. The group reportedly was not going to make the payment without the NBA’s approval to move the team.

However, Joe Maloof told the Sacramento Bee moments ago that the report isn’t true and Hansen did indeed make the payment.

The Kings were sold last month by the Maloofs to the Seattle group, but the sale is pending approval by the NBA Board of Governors.
