49ers Could Acquire Darrelle Revis After Smith Trade

With Alex Smith being dealt to the 49ers for a couple draft picks, San Francisco is now armed with 15 draft picks this summer.

The rumor out there now is that the 49ers will use some of those picks to acquire cornerback Darrelle Revis from the Jets.

Revis has been the subject of trade rumors this offseason, and last month, it was reported that the 49ers were “highly interested” in acquiring him.

He regarded by many as the top cornerback in the league, but missed all but two games of the 2012 season with a torn ACL and subsequent knee surgery.

The Jets will likely ask for at least a first round pick in exchange for Revis.

Last week at the combine, the 49ers were checking in with agents on the cornerback market, thus confirming that they are indeed looking to upgrade their secondary.

If you put two and two together, this likely means that the 49ers could and should make a run for Revis.
