Cal Bears wide receiver Keenan Allen will not work out due to a strained PCL (posterior cruciate ligament), reports ESPN’s Adam Schefter:
Allen will attend the combine and undergo medical exams for the teams, but with his knee being only 70 percent, he and [his agent] have decided it is better not to run. Allen will save his running for his own pro day sometime in early April after he has recovered.
Allen is projected to be one of the top receivers chosen in this year’s NFL draft. He caught 46 passes last season for 490 yards and five touchdowns. In 2011, he recorded a career-high 1343 receiving yards.
Plenty of teams should be disappointed at the fact that they won’t get to see Allen participate in the combine. Our own Baily Deeter projected him to go 16th to the Rams, while other mock drafts have him going to the Vikings, Steelers, or Dolphins.
