Update 4:58 PM: Inge is nearing a deal with the Pittsburgh Pirates, according to CBS Sports.

MLB Hot Stove is reporting that veteran infielder Brandon Inge has a deal imminent and will sign with a team in the near future. It will be a minor-league deal with an invite to big-league camp.

Inge was claimed off waivers by the Oakland A’s midway through the 2012 season, and contributed mightily to their amazing run to the postseason. Inge hit .226 with 11 home runs and 52 RBI in 74 games.

Unfortunately, his season was derailed by a shoulder injury that required surgery.

What team Inge will sign with is unknown, but our Rays’ site claims that he may be the perfect fit to Tampa Bay’s roster.
