Coming off an 84-63 win at Santa Clara Thursday night, The Gaels look for their ninth straight win tonight at the Jenny Craig center in San Diego. Thursday night’s victory gave SMC their 20th win of the season. They stand at 20-4 overall and 9-1 (2nd place in the WCC).

In Thursday’s win Beau Levesque scored a career-high 24 points off the bench putting up 6-7 from behind the arc. For the season, Levesque is averaging 11.0 points and 22 minutes of play time.

Brad Waldow put up a solid 14 points for the Gaels. He had eight rebounds and a career high-tying three blocks. Mitchell Young was also in double digits scoring 12 with nine rebounds.

Although Matthew Dellavedova was held to four points (all free throws) he still managed nine assists.

The Gaels offense has been solid all season. They are averaging 78 points per game which ranks them 14th in the country. They are also averaging 49.3% from the floor ranking them 8th across the nation.

The Gaels bench has been a strong force all season. The dark horse, has been Jordan Giusti. Giusti has been a solid defense performer and went 3-4 with seven points against the Broncos.

Coach Bennett is working hard on the Gaels defense. They are having great success on the defensive end as well holding opponents to 60.2 points for the season. Look for a strong all-around performance from the Gaels tonight. If they can stay strong from behind the arc, they will be tough to beat even with a home court advantage for San Diego.

San Diego is now 13-12 overall and is in 4th place at 6-4 in the WCC.  San Diego is coming off a huge at home win over BYU 74-68 on Thursday. San Diego also beat LMU in overtime and played Gonzaga tough losing by just two.

Against BYU, Johnny Dee rallied off injury with a sprained ankle and put up 19 points. Behind Dee, was Ken Rancifer who had 16 with six assists.

Chris Manresa was also impressive putting up a double-double by scoring 10 and having 10 rebounds.

Look for San Diego to come out trying to score early and often if they are going to have a chance at upsetting the Gaels.

The Toreros last faced the Gaels at St. Mary’s on Jan 24th and lost 81-48.
