Romo, Giants Avoid Arbitration With Two-Year Deal

The Giants have signed closer Sergio Romo to a two-year deal to avoid arbitration, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The contract will buy out Romo’s final two arbitration years.

The bearded closer had his best season in 2012, recording 14 saves and a 1.79 ERA during the regular season, and continued his success in the playoffs when he struck out Miguel Cabrera to win the World Series.

Over his five-year career with the Giants, Romo has a 20-9 record with a 2.20 ERA.
