The University of San Francisco Dons travel to Pepperdine to take on the Waves tonight in Malibu, CA. The Dons (8 – 13, 2 – 7 WCC) lost to St. Mary’s 67 – 63 last Wednesday in War Memorial Gym. Pepperdine (10 – 11, 2 – 6 WCC) lost at home 63 – 61 to BYU on Thursday.
The Waves are led in scoring by Lorne Jackson (14.4 points per game), Jordan Baker (11.8 ppg), and Stacy Davis (10.1 ppg). Davis leads in rebounding with 7.0 rebounds per game, followed by Baker (4.9 rpg) and Moriba de Freitas (4.7 rpg). Baker and Jackson average 3.3 and 2.5 assists per game, respectively.
The Waves shoot 45.0 percent from the field, 37.0 percent behind the 3-point arc, and 67.5 percent from the free throw line.
Cole Dickerson averages a double-double (14.0 ppg, 9.8 rpg) to lead the Dons in both categories. Cody Doolin, De’End Parker and Tim Derksen chip in 12.2 ppg, 12.0 ppg, and 8.3 ppg, respectively. Derksen also grabs 3.9 rpg, followed by Doolin with 3.1 rpg.
The Dons shoot 44.8 percent from the field, 38.5 percent behind the 3-point line, and 66.7 percent from the free throw line.
Dickerson is a double-double threat every time he steps on the court, while Parker is rounding into shape after a wrist injury. Doolin needs to continue to penetrate on offense so he can create scoring opportunities for his teammates.
The Waves run the motion offense and rely on their perimeter shooting, so USF will need to defend the 3-point line.
Tip off is 2:30 pm Pacific time.
