Moss Stands by His Claim: “I Am the Greatest to Ever Do It

Judging by the immense backlash he took, one would think that Randy Moss would ease up on his claim that he is greatest wide receiver of all time.

Not a chance.

Moss was back at it again today with the media, standing by his claim.

“I do believe in my heart and my mind I am the greatest to ever do it,” Moss said.

When asked about Jerry Rice being the greatest, Moss stressed that he stats do not tell the whole story, referring to Emmitt Smith.

I do not live on numbers. I really do not. If you sit here and just said who is the greatest running back? Statistically it is Emmitt Smith. People would say Barry Sanders, Gale Sayers or Jim Brown. Their numbers do not match Emmitt Smith, but people would say Emmitt Smith is the best running back.

Moss has been extremely outspoken this week in the days leading up to the Super Bowl. Besides his claim of being the greatest, he also voiced his displeasure of his role on the 49ers and being used as a “decoy.”

I’ll let good ole’ Randy have the final say and let you debate whether he is right:

I think I am the greatest receiver ever, point blank. Next question.
