Earlier today, a report on our partner site SI suggested that Ray Lewis had used deer-antler spray to help him recover faster from his torn triceps. The spray contains IGF-1, a banned substance by the NFL.
The report indicated that Lewis had requested products from SWATS (Sports with Alternatives to Steroids) co-founder Mitch Ross to help him heal quicker.
Lewis denies the allegation and called it “stupidity.”
“Two years ago, it was the same report,” Lewis said at the Super Bowl media day. “I wouldn’t give that report or him any of my press. He’s not worthy of that. Next question.”
He was referring to a case in 2011, when Lewis allegedly received free products from SWATS, courtesy of former Raiders’ head coach Hue Jackson.
Lewis plans to retire following the Super Bowl, so any ramifications handed down by the NFL would likely not affect him anyways.
