Randy Moss has done a pretty good job of keeping his mouth shut until now.

During Super Bowl media day, the 49ers’ wide receiver claimed that he is the greatest of all time at his position.

“I do think I’m the greatest receiver ever to do it,” he told the NFL Network.

While that is certainly a fair argument, saying that to essentially the entire world during media day is not exactly that smartest choice to make.

Especially if Jerry Rice is in the house.

“Put my numbers against his numbers,” Rice said.

So we will. Here is how Moss stacks up with Rice:

Randy Moss: 218 games played, 982 receptions, 15,292 yards, 156 touchdowns

Jerry Rice: 303 games played, 1549 receptions, 22,895 yards, 197 touchdowns

The verdict?

Sorry Randy, you may be great, but Jerry Rice is simply the best.
