Former 49ers and Raiders offensive tackle Kwame Harris has been charged with assault.
To be exact, Harris will appear in San Mateo County Superior Court today to face felony counts of domestic violence causing great bodily injury and assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury.
According to the San Mateo Daily Journal, Harris assaulted his ex-boyfriend at a restaurant after an argument over (get this)…soy sauce.
The victim, Dimitri Geier, poured soy sauce over a plate of rice, which upset Harris to the point where the two men argued for seven minutes.
It gets even stranger: as they left and walked towards Harris’ car, Harris allegedly pulled Geier’s pants down and claimed he stole his underwear.
A fight then ensued, and Harris punched Geier several times. Geier was taken to a hospital with broken orbital bones.
Harris is currently free on bail. If convicted, he could face up to seven years in prison.
Harris was drafted 26th in 2003 by the 49ers, and is considered to be one of the biggest draft busts in 49er history.
He started 44 games for the Niners from 2003-2007 before signing a three-year, $16 million deal with the Raiders. He was released by Oakland after just one season, and has not played in the NFL since.
