Ryane Clowe has had preliminary discussions with the Sharks regarding a contract extension, he told CSN.
We talked a little bit before the lockout there, just touching bases and a feeling out process. Nothing too serious. At some point here I’m sure we’ll talk again, but I can’t say there’s been anything really serious.
Clowe is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer, as he is in the final year of a four-year deal.
He recorded 17 goals and 28 assists last season, and the gritty forward has become a fan-favorite in San Jose.
Clowe was drafted in the sixth round in 2001, and made his NHL debut during the 2005-2006 with the Sharks.
