A 49ers source has told Adam Schefter that he “highly, highly doubts” that Michael Crabtree will be charged in the sexual assault case.
I’d like to insist that the 49ers are not the law, but Adam Schefter is one of the most trustable sources in the business.
Crabtree is being investigated for an alleged sexual assault that took place following the Niners’ win over the Packers last Sunday. He has been interviewed by San Francisco detectives, and he has made himself available for for further interviews.
Crabtree did travel with the 49ers, and is expected to play this afternoon in the NFC Championship game.
Through a statement, GM Trent Baalke said, “The 49ers take such matters very seriously.”
Crabtree is not the only recent San Francisco athlete to be accused of a sexual assault. In July of 2012, Giants’ third baseman Pablo Sandoval was not charged after a woman alleged that Sandoval sexually assaulted her at a hotel near Santa Cruz.
