Giants Sign Blanco to One-Year Deal, Avoid Arbitration

Just minutes after agreeing with Hunter Pence, CBS Sports reports that the Giants have signed outfielder Gregor Blanco to a one-year, $1.35 million deal to avoid arbitration.

Blanco was one of the feel-good stories last season for the Giants, making the team out of spring training and becoming a regular contributor either as a starter or off the bench.

He hit .244 with five home runs and 34 RBI with 26 steals in 141 games, and gained fame with his diving catch to save Matt Cain’s perfect game in August.

Blanco will likely platoon in left field with Andres Torres in 2013.
