Giants Agree to One-Year, $13.8 Million Deal With Pence

The San Francisco Giants signed Hunter Pence to a one-year deal worth $13.8 million to avoid arbitration, as reported by CBS Sports.

Pence was acquired mid-season via trade from the Phillies, and his emotional leadership helped the Giants win their second World Series in three years.

He wasn’t a huge force swinging the bat, hitting a meager .219 with seven home runs and 45 RBI in 59 games for the Giants.

Pence made $10.4 million last season, but the Giants feared that he would get even more via arbitration.

The Giants will have one more season to “evaluate” Pence until he hits the open market in 2014.
