Report: Mets Unimpressed By Brian Wilson

Free agent closer Brian Wilson worked out for the Mets at UCLA on Saturday, and he did not impress them, says the New York Post.

They did not think that Wilson was worthy of a big league contract, and he would not sign a minor league deal.

“Physically, he’s not ready,” a source said.“He’s got a ways to go.”

Wilson had his 2012 season derailed after a second Tommy John surgery. He has been the Giants’ closer for the past four seasons, racking up 171 saves and growing a huge beard.

However, the Giants have been a bit timid with their future plans with him, as Sergio Romo has transitioned nicely over to the closer role. If Wilson were to re-sign with the Giants, it may be for s setup role or even middle relief.
