Lawsuit Filed to Block Seattle Arena Plans

A lawsuit has been filed to block the city of Seattle from building a new arena, according to KING5, a local Seattle news station.

The is the second suit to be filed against the arena. Here is an excerpt from the report:

The suit, filed in King County Superior Court, alleges the arrangement, which calls for $200 million in public money to be repaid through arena revenue, violates the terms of Initiative 91.

A Seattle investment group led by Chris Hansen has been talking to the Maloofs about purchasing Sacramento Kings for a record $525 million and relocating them to Seattle.

Last week, it was reported that the deal was all but done, but there have been numerous setbacks and now it seems like it may be a few weeks before we get a resolution.

At the least, the lawsuit will delay the potential sale even further, giving time for another investor to swoop in and buy the Kings to keep them in Sacramento.
