Tyreke Evans will return to the starting lineup tonight. He and the Kings look to turn things around against a Cleveland team that is missing its starting center, Anderson Varejao. Varejao, who was leading the league in rebounds per game before his season-ending knee injury, was an interior force for the Cavs.Sacramento will need to take full advantage of his absence by being active early and controlling the paint.
Sacramento has allowed teams to average 117.8 points against them during their four-game losing streak. The Kings will need to come prepared to play tough defense tonight, as Kyrie Irving is a very capable scorer. Not only is Irving a magnificent scorer but he’s also a superb facilitator.
Isaiah Thomas will need to have a more complete game tonight. He will need to get his teammates involved rather than trying to carry the team himself. Thomas had five assists in the loss to Miami, but four of the assists came in the second half with the Kings trailing by 20 points.
Thomas must look to move the ball and spark the offense right from the start of the game. He must recognize the mismatches with Demarcus Cousins and Tyreke Evans, as the Cavaliers have no one who can really slow either Evans or Cousins down.
The Kings will need Jason Thompson to find a way to get back to his early season success and continue to play solid all around basketball. Thomas Robinson has seen his minutes continue to increase, and he has started to find his way defensively. When Robinson finds a way to be productive on the offensive end, he will quickly become a very valuable player in the NBA.
The Kings will need to come out hard tonight. Plus, Cleveland is coming off a loss, and will be looking to turn things around as well.
