An injury update on Joe Staley, one of the unsung heroes on the 49ers’ offensive line tonight in their victory against the Green Bay Packers.

Staley was dealing with an arm injury that he sustained during the game, thanks to the abuse that he took from Clay Matthews.

He was “grimacing and holding his arm” throughout the game, and was “working with medical personnel in between offensive plays,” according to SB Nation.

However, the tough Staley stayed in the game against Matthews, one of the best linebackers in the game, and shut him down. Matthews had just five tackles and one sack, essentially a non-factor.

Staley had X-Rays on his right arm following the game, which revealed no break, reports CSN.

“I had my hands on Clay and he punched and I thought it broke my arm,” Staley said.

Luckily, he didn’t.

The 49ers defeated the Packers 45-31 to advance to the NFC Championship game. For a full recap, please click here.
