The San Francisco Giants have signed Kensuke Tanaka to a minor-league contract with an invite to spring training.
Tanaka is a second baseman who played for Nippon Ham in Japan for the past 13 seasons. Last season, he hit .300 with three home runs and 32 RBIs. His career batting average is .294 with 134 steals.
He will likely be used as a utility infielder if he makes the team, and is not expected to have much of an impact.
