The Warriors had discussions to trade for Rudy Gay of the Grizzlies, reports the Contra Costa Times.
However, those talks went nowhere as Memphis was not interested in taking the Warriors’ large contracts (a la Richard Jefferson, Andris Biedrins).
The Grizzlies are seeking a combination of young players and draft picks, which the Warriors are not willing to part with.
So, basically there is no story here, as neither side appears willing to pull the trigger. However, things could get interesting if one side changes its stance, as the Warriors are very high on acquiring Gay.
Gay, who is in his seventh NBA season, is averaging 17.9 points per game for his career.
