Kings Look For Third Straight Road Win in Brooklyn: Game Preview

The Sacramento Kings prepare for their final game of this four game road trip. The Kings will face the Brooklyn Nets tonight at the Barclay Center as both teams will look to continue their recent surges. Both teams have won four of their last five games and each team’s respective centers have played large roles.

The Kings will need DeMarcus Cousins to come out ready to play the way he has in the Kings recent victories. Cousins has started to understand how to use his abilities, and find teammates when he is regularly double and triple teamed.

Brook Lopez is averaging 24.8 points and 9 rebounds in his last five games, while Cousins is averaging 19.4 points, 14 rebounds, and 5.6 assists in his last five games. What makes Cousins stand out from other talented big men in the league is his ability to pass the ball. Cousins is perhaps one of the only big men in the NBA that can run the floor and be a potential scorer, or a potential play maker. Cousins ability to pass the ball, run the floor, score inside and outside the paint, and play defense against almost anyone on the floor gives him the edge against almost every center in the league.

The Nets will have their hands full with Cousins tonight, but will have several other players who are more than capable of making an impact. The Kings will need to play team defense, and remember that the Nets have three other very capable scoring threats in Deron Williams, Joe Johnson, and Gerald Wallace. Andre Blatche has been playing at a higher level since being acquired by the Nets, and could provide a spark tonight.

Jason Thompson will need to have another big night, as he has arguably been the Kings most consistent player all year. Thompson has found a way to produce as other teams over load on Cousins. If the Kings hope to have a chance at walking away with their third consecutive victory, they will need a big game on both ends of the floor from all their big men.
