The Sacramento Kings ran away from the Toronto Raptors tonight, as DeMarcus Cousins had a huge game offensively with another huge double- double, scoring 31 points, grabbing 20 rebounds and dishing out four assists. Cousins and Sacramento’s big men dominated the Raptors, as the Kings won 105-96.
Sacramento came out and played hard against a Raptors team that had won four straight games. The Kings lead the Raptors by one point after the first two quarters, but had a big third quarter, outscoring the Raptors 28-10. John Salmons seemed like a man possessed, as he scored eight points in a two minute span to close the third quarter. The Raptors had a surge in the fourth, but Sacramento managed to maintain their composure to close out the Raptors Friday night in Toronto.
John Salmons also had a great night. He scored 20 points, dished out four, and added a steal. Perhaps the defense on Salmons combined with the solid defense of Thomas Robinson were one of the main reasons for the Kings big run in the third quarter.
Cousins was practically unstoppable. No one on the Raptors had an answer for his size and quickness. The Raptors could not contain the Kings’ big men as Cousins, Thompson, and Johnson Combined to score 53 points and grab 29 rebounds. Thompson sat most of the fourth quarter, but James Johnson played well in his spot.
The Sacramento played great basketball as they continued to find each other on the offensive end, and played tough team defense. The Kings have had 22 or more assists in the last five straight games, which has lead to their most recent success. If they continue to play team basketball, they could surely make a run in the Western Conference.
