“The Cowboy” is saddlin’ up.
Justin Smith returned to practice today for the first time since suffering partially torn triceps on Dec. 16 against the New England Patriots.
The 49ers’ defensive tackle had his streak of playing in 185 consecutive games snapped due to his injury. That was the longest current streak by a defensive tackle.
Smith, who was voted to his fourth Pro Bowl last month, wore a plastic brace over his left arm and participated in warm-ups and individual drills, according to the Sacramento Bee
Ricky Jean-Francois has been a fine substitute for Smith, but there is no question that everybody would like Smith back for the postseason. Hopefully he will use the bye week to fully recover, and come back as healthy as ever in the NFC Divisional Round.
