Report: 49ers Sign Billy Cundiff

The San Francisco 49ers have signed kicker Billy Cundiff after a tryout, according to CSN.

Yes, this Billy Cundiff:

The report indicates that the 49ers will also be keeping struggling placekicker David Akers on the roster. Akers ranks 30th in field goal percentage among NFL kickers, and has struggled mightily this season. No word on the corresponding move that the 49ers must make to create room for Cundiff on the 53-man roster.

Cundiff, a 10-year veteran, made the Pro Bowl in 2010 after making 26 of 29 field goals for the Ravens. However, his name will live in infamy in Baltimore thanks to a 32-yard miss that sent the Patriots to the Superbowl last season, which you can see in the video above.

Cundiff was released by the Redskins earlier this year after making just 7 of 12 field goal attempts. He has kicked for the Cowboys, Saints, Browns, Ravens, and Redskins in his career.
