The San Francisco 49ers have officially released running back Brandon Jacobs, the team announced.
Jacobs was suspended for the remainder of the season on Dec. 10, as a result of his constant griping and complaining about lack of playing time.
The former Superbowl champion appeared in just two games, carrying the ball five times for seven yards.
Jacobs went to Twitter and Instagram to voice his displeasure, claiming that he is “rotting away” on the 49ers and this was “by far the worst year” he ever had.
He is now free to sign with any team, but cannot play for that team until after the Superbowl.
