The Sacramento Kings enter tonight’s game with the potential of regaining the services of Tyreke Evans, and being at full strength. Evans has missed the last 6 games, and the last 11 of 12 games due to his reoccurring knee problems. Evans knee has responded well after participating in the Kings last two practices.
The Kings are coming off a hard fought victory, that shows how good they can play as a team. The Kings had easily their best half of the season as they opened up on a Knicks team that was missing two of its starters. They scored 71 points, shooting 59 percent from the field and shooting 10-15 from beyond the three point arc. Sacramento let the Knicks back the game in the second half, but fought their way to a buzzer beating victory against a veteran Knicks team.
Sacramento has averaged 29 assists in their last three games, and will need to continue to share the ball, and find each other on the offensive side of the floor. The Boston Celtics rank 29th in the league in rebounding, and the Kings will need to take advantage of their size in the front court, and protect the glass.
DeMarcus Cousins didn’t have his biggest game on the stat sheet against the Knicks, but his attitude was noticeably improved. Cousins seemed to be a little rattled in the late minutes of the game and must remember that he has to maintain his composure on the court in the later parts of games, or when games get close. Cousins’ steal late in the fourth quarter sparked the Kings last minute victory.
The Kings will need to come out hard against another veteran team tonight, and push the tempo. Boston has showed its age early this season, and is not capable of running with the Kings. The Kings will need to limit turnovers, while trying to force the Celtics into committing turnovers and get into the open court against an aging Celtics team.
