Chris Cunningham’s double-double of 11 points and 14 rebounds helped the San Jose State Spartans defeat the Texas State Bobcats 72-55 on the road, snapping their two game losing streak.
Louis Garrett chipped in 16 points to lead the Spartans, while the Bobcats’ Joel Wright led all scores with 22.
The Spartans dominated the first half, shooting 50 percent from the field and holding Texas State to just 25 percent. They built a double-digit lead with 12 minutes remaining on a Xavier Jones layup, and led 32-19 at the half.
San Jose State was able to build their lead in the second half, never letting the Bobcats even get within single digits. They led by as many as 22 points late in the game.
With the road win, the Spartans are 1-0 in WAC play, and will travel to face UTSA on New Years’ Eve.
